Program description:
This network aspires to form a higher-education platform for East-European housing studies. The main reason to embrace this topic is a gap between an intensive housing development in this region in Europe and abundant related research in the one side and the lack of proper reflection of this dynamics in higher education in the other side. Housing studies are still divided between several disciplines in East-European academic space; they are not concerned integrally, as an arising field. This is in a sharp contrast to many Western universities, where housing has been recognised as independent studies at the faculties of architecture and urbanism. Hence, this network targets to: (1) link knowledge about housing from different disciplines; (2) examine it through its spatial dimension; (3) test it at the different spatial levels of education and research; and (4) interpret all elements in relation with East-European legacy and current trends in housing.
